The Cubs get the lefty reliever they were looking at (John Grabow) and some extra starting pitching depth (Tom Gorzelanny.) They give up their starting pitcher from today's win, Kevin Hart, pitcher Jose Ascanio and third baseman Josh Harrison. Seems like a decent trade on the surface.
Gorzelanny was optioned to Triple A, so I wonder if that means Ted Lilly will be back for his next turn in the rotation, or if they have someone else to spot start in four days.
Last, Russ Ortiz was released by the Astros after getting lit up by the Cubs. This means that the two starting pitchers from the Cubs/Astros game earlier are now not on the teams they started for in less than an hour after the game completed. That's rough!
